Competence

BIM technologies

LLC "Volgogradnefteproekt" began its journey in information modeling as early as 2012, initiating its activities in this field on offshore oil and gas fields development facilities. The transition to this technology was not instantaneous.

And it began not with 3D modeling, but with breaking down the object into its constituent parts (decomposition) based on its functionality during operation and organization of construction and installation works, and with compiling lists and components of necessary information. These steps enable evaluating completed and remaining work volumes, acquired or developed documentation, analyzing past and potential changes, and assessing their impact on documentation development, procurement, installation, and operation.

Later, 3D modeling was introduced to visually illustrate the results. These steps were implemented on specific projects—offshore platforms in the Caspian Sea, which at the time were in stages of documentation development for construction, procurement, installation, and testing. Today, these platforms are successfully operational, accompanied by the digital models ultimately delivered as part of the project outcomes. Initially, modeling relied on Bentley Systems software, including ProjectWise for collaboration, 3D modeling tools, and later 4D modeling systems for digital asset creation.

Currently, Russian software solutions are being gradually integrated into this framework. This includes the company’s proprietary tool, registered in 2022, which is continually developed to address specific tasks—both internal workflows and collaboration with customers, construction contractors, and subsequent industrial operations.

Our
solutions

LLC “VOLGOGRADNEFTEPROEKT” has developed and implemented an Engineering Data Management System (EDMS). The main purpose of the system is to commission a facility along with all structured project information obtained as a result of design, procurement, construction and testing, as well as data required to populate maintenance and repair (M&R) systems.

The system operates both on commissioned facilities and during the pre-commissioning phases (design and construction) to keep the Customer informed about the facility’s current status. Leveraging the EDMS framework, LLC "VOLGOGRADNEFTEPROEKT" created its proprietary software product, VNP.IMAK (Information Model of an Asset), which is registered in the Russian Register of Computer Programs (Reg. No. 2022668348, October 5, 2022).

IMAK serves as a collaboration tool for internal use among company employees during design work, as well as for external stakeholders involved in project implementation (Customers, Contractors, Suppliers, Supervisory Authorities, etc.). By periodically publishing 3D models, documentation, and updated data, the system ensures transparency in project decisions, deviations, construction progress, and changes for all participants. Upon facility commissioning, the Customer also receives a digital twin of the asset.
